On December 5, 2005 the new Chinese Ambassador to Ireland Mr. Zhang Xinsen presented the letter of credence to President Mary McAleese of Ireland and formally took his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China.

Ambassador Zhang arrived in Dublin on November 25.
