New Ambassador Makes Debut by Presenting Credentials

The new Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Mr. Liu Biwei, officially took up his appointment by presenting his credentials to H.E. Mrs. Mary McAleese, President of Ireland in Áras an Uachtaráin on Tuesday, 11 December 2007.

Ambassador Liu conveyed to President McAleese the cordial greetings from the Chinese President, H.E. Mr. Hu Jintao and the best wishes of the Chinese Government and people to the Government and people of Ireland.

President McAleese spoke highly of the friendship between China and Ireland and recalled her state visit to China in 2003, which left memorable print on her mind. The President also assured Ambassador Liu that he could count on full support and assistance from herself and the Irish Government in his mission.

Ambassador Liu arrived in Ireland on Monday, 3 December 2007. (End)
