|Vice President Zeng Qinghong Meets with Peruvian Foreign Minister Rodriguez|
On December 13, 2004, Vice President Zeng Qinghong met in the Great Hall of the People with the delegation led by Manuel Rodriguez Cuadros, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Peru.
Zeng said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru the two countries have conducted mutually beneficial cooperation in various forms in all fields and sound achievements have been made. Both sides cooperate closely with and trust each other in international affairs. China thanks the Peruvian government for its valuable support on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights.
Zeng Qinghong said that both China and Peru are important developing countries and members of APEC and share wide common interests. Not long ago President Hu Jintao and President Toledo met once more during APEC meeting and reached important consensus on bilateral ties, injecting fresh energy into the development of bilateral ties. The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with Peru and stands ready to expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit, win-win result and common development and strengthen cooperation in international affairs.
Zeng said that China is willing to further strengthen friendly relations, broaden exchanges and raise cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Foreign Minister Rodriguez said that Peru and China enjoy traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1971, the two countries have maintained sound political relations and witnessed sustained development of economic and trade cooperation. Rodriguez reiterated that the Peruvian government adheres to the one-China position and is willing to further strengthen friendly cooperation with China in fields including economy and trade, culture and tourism.
Vice Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong, Chinese ambassador elect to Peru Yin Hengmin, the Peruvian Minister of Industry Velásquez and Ambassador to China Luis Chang Reyes attended the meeting.
