Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui Meets with Tajik Ambassador to China
2009-03-11

On March 11, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui met with Tajik Ambassador to China Rashid Alimov.

During the meeting, Li said China-Tajikistan good-neighborly and friendly cooperation maintained in-depth development in 2008 with close high-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation in all areas. President Hu Jintao paid his first state visit to Tajikistan and President Emomali Rakhmon attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. Makhmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, speaker of the Upper House of Tajikistan's Supreme Assembly, paid a successful visit to China and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi paid his first visit to Tajikistan. Through these exchanges of visits, China-Tajikistan relations have entered a new phase of development. In 2009, China is ready to work with Tajikistan to continue implementing comprehensively and earnestly the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries during President Hu’s visit to Tajikistan. Li urged both sides to strengthen mutual support on each other’s major concerns and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, transportation and culture.

Alimov made positive comments on the status quo of bilateral relations, saying that Tajikistan deems China its friendly neighbor and sincere partner. Tajikistan is ready to work with China to continuously enhance political trust between both sides, expand pragmatic cooperation in all areas and keep closer coordination in the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other multilateral frameworks, in a bid to push bilateral ties to a new level.
