On March 24, 2014, H.E. Xu Jianguo, China's Ambassador-designate to Ireland, paid a courtesy call to Ms. Orla O'Hanrahan, Chief of Protocol of Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Ms. O'Hanrahan warmly welcomed Ambassador Xu, expressing readiness of the DFAT Protocol Division to continue to work closely with the Chinese Embassy in Ireland during Xu's tenure as China's 12th Ambassador to Ireland.
Ambassador Xu thanked Ms. O'Hanrahan for her kindness and said that he looked forward to doing what he could to enhance political mutual trust between China and Ireland and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
Ambassador Xu arrived in Dublin on March 20, 2014.
