Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong Meets with H.E. Mr. Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs

On 11 October, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, met with H.E. Mr. Han Changfu, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.

Ambassador Yue expressed his welcome to Minister Han’s visit and spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation in agricultural and rural development between China and Ireland. Minister Han said that it is important to promote and deepen the agriculture cooperation between the two countries.

Invited by H.E. Mr. Michael Creed T.D., the Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Minister Han visited Ireland from 11 to 13, October 2018 with the company of Ambassador Yue. During his visit, Minister Han and Minister Creed co-chaired the first meeting of the China-Ireland Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation and signed the "Action Plan for Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture in 2019-2021". Minister Han also visited a farm accompanied by Mr. Andrew Doyle T.D., the Minister of State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture. Minister Han also had a meeting with five local Chinese experts and entrepreneurs in Agri-tech field.

Also present were Ms. Tara McCarthy, Chief Executive of Bord Bia, and Ms. Sinéad McPhillips, Assistant Secretary General from Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine of Ireland.
