Ambassador joins Chinese Society of Ireland in celebrating Spring Festival

On 20th February 2018, the Fifth Day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong was invited to join a happy get-together organized by the Chinese Society of Ireland (CSI) in celebration of the Spring Festival. More than 100 people from the Chinese community in Ireland as well as their Irish friends and partners attended the Evening Gala.

In his remarks, the Chinese Ambassador shared with the guests the recent social and economic developments in China, expressing delight in the remarkable achievements made in 2017 in various fields, particularly in the steady progress in the collaborative implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, which continued to prompt and contribute to mutually beneficial international cooperation.

Voicing his appreciation for the tireless efforts by the Chinese Society to promote a harmonious Chinese community in Ireland and to promote and disseminate the splendid traditional Chinese culture, Ambassador Yue commended the organization for its consistent and persistent endeavour to protect China’s reputation and the dignity of the Chinese nation, and for its members’ readiness to make contributions to the ultimate reunification of China.

He encouraged the members of the Chinese community to do what they can to facilitate Irish-Chinese cooperation under the broad framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, to grasp and share development opportunities created by China’s continued growth, and to continue with their safeguard against and opposition to separatists and trouble-makers.

Also present at the festive event were staff from the Consular, Political and Administrative Sections of the Chinese Embassy.
