Chinese Ambassador He Xiangdong attends the CIIFF Opening in Dublin

For the first time ever, 2019 China Ireland International Film Festival opened on Monday June 24th in Dublin Lighthouse Cinema. H.E. Ambassador He Xiangdong attended this big event together with former Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and other distinguished guests from both China and Ireland. Around 150 people enjoyed the opening film Mr. Deng goes to Washington, which was well received.

In his remarks, Ambassador He expressed his welcome to Jilin Provincial Cultural Delegation and Prof. Fu Hongxing and his team from Beijing, and congratulate the successful opening of the CIIFF with the joint contribution from both the Chinese and Irish government departments, film institutions and organizations. Ambassador He highly praised the film event to play an important role in further enhancing the people-to-people relations and film industry cooperation on the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and Ireland.

There are 12 movies on screens of 3 different cinemas across Dublin for 6 days. An Exhibition of Chinese Hand-craft Film Posters, a Seminar between the two countries' film industry professionals will also be held at the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, the base of the main organizer of the CIIFF.

The CIIFF is jointly supported by Chinese Embassy in Ireland, Jilin Province Government of China, Screen Ireland, Culture Ireland etc.

The Changchun Film Studio Group of Jilin Province, considered as the oldest cornerstone of the Chinese film industry, contributed 5 movies to the Festival.
