Ambassador He visited County Carlow and County Offaly

On 13-14 November, Ambassador He Xiangdong and his wife Mme. Xia Lining visited County Carlow and County Offaly at the invitation of the two County Councils.

 

Cllr. John Pender, Cathaoirleach of County Carlow, Ms. Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive of Carlow County Council, Cllr. Peter Ormond, Cathaoirleach of County Offaly, and Mr. Tom Shanahan, Deputy Chief Executive of Offaly County Council, briefed the ambassador the two counties’ development and advantages in fields of technological innovation, animal husbandry, culture and tourism, and higher education. They also briefed the ambassador the exchanges and cooperation of the two counties with Chinese provinces and cities such as Hunan Province and Luzhou City in Sichuan Province.

Ambassador He appreciated the two counties’ active expansion of cooperation with their Chinese counterparts. He hoped the two counties will seize the opportunity of rapid development of China-Ireland relations to deepen friendly exchanges with relevant provinces and cities in China. The Chinese Embassy in Ireland will continue to provide steady supports and services for the cooperation between the two sides.

 

During the visit, Ambassador He also met with the executives of Carlo College and Institute of Technology Carlow, and visited VISUAL Carlow and Birr Castle.

Mr. Shen Mingchun, Chief of the Political and Press Section of the Embassy, accompanied the visit.
