Ambassador Yue Meets Mr. James Henry Lau Jr

On 13th February 2019, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, had a cordial meeting at the Residence with Mr. James Henry Lau Jr, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Ambassador Yue briefed Mr. Lau of the strong momentum of Sino-Irish ties as well as opportunities of cooperation between Ireland and Hong Kong SAR under the backdrop of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland and reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to support and facilitate the Hong Kong SAR’s efforts to strengthen economic, trade, financial and scientific cooperation with Ireland in accordance with the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.

Mr. Lau appreciated Ambassador Yue’s briefing and reflected on the development of Hong Kong SAR in the past two decades, citing the "One Country, Two Systems" policy and the Central Government's support as major reasons for Hong Kong's sustained prosperity.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Huang He, Political Counsellor, Mr. Shen Mingchun, Chief of the Political & Press Section from the Embassy.
