Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong Meets President of Technological University Dublin

On March 15, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Ambassador of China to Ireland, met with Prof. David FitzPatrick, President of Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin).

Ambassador Yue congratulated Professor FitzPatrick on taking the office of president of Ireland’s first technological university, hoping that his experience as Provost of Beijing-Dublin International College would facilitate exchanges and cooperation between TU Dublin and Chinese universities. Ambassador Yue briefed Prof. FitzPatrick on the highlights of the 2nd Session of the 13th National People’s Congress of China and the 2nd Session of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference held earlier this month and the 5th Meeting of the China-Ireland Joint Working Group on Education conducted in Dublin in February, and expressed his confidence in the ever-deepening relationships between Chinese and Irish universities.

Professor FitzPatrick shared Ambassador Yue’s views in the prospects of collaboration in higher education between Ireland and China and wished to make more contributions to the friendship between the two peoples.

Technological University Dublin was officially launched on January 1, 2019 on the basis of Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght and Institute of Technology Blanchardstown.

Mr. Shen Mingchun, Chief of Political and Press Section and Mr. Zheng Dawei, Vice-Chief of Science, Education and Culture Section of the Chinese Embassy, Prof. Michael Devereux, Dean and Director of College of Science and Health, Dr. Deirdre Lillis, Head of Computer Science, Dr. Dominic Dillane, Head of Tourism and Hospitality, and Dr. Brian Murphy, Lecturer of the TU Dublin were present at the meeting.
