Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong Attends the 18th Chinese Bridge Competition Held in University College Dublin

On April 14, H. E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Ambassador of China to Ireland, attended the 18th Chinese Bridge Competition for foreign college students in Ireland.

In his remarks, Ambassador Yue extends his congratulations to the contestants of this competition, hoping that a good command of Chinese would boost their future career and facilitate the realization of their dreams. Elaborating on the theme of this year's competition "One World, One Family", he explains the importance of human kinship and brotherhood in the Chinese culture, and stresses that the Chinese people are ready to strive with people from the world to create a shared future of peace and prosperity for mankind. Ambassador Yue expresses his appreciation for the consistent support from University College Dublin to the friendly exchanges between China and Ireland, as well as the work of UCD Confucius Institute to bring Chinese and the Chinese culture to the Irish people.

Ambassador Yue watched the talent show performance by the 8 finalists and the First-prize winner of 2019 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students in Ireland before presenting the award to First-prize winner Felix O'Mahoney.

Also attending the competition were UCD President Prof. Andrew J Deeks, UCD Confucius Institute directors Prof. Wang Liming and Mr. Zhang Wei, and some staff members of the Chinese Embassy.
