Distinguished Foreign Students Scholarship aims at
encouraging and sponsoring newly graduated students with
excellent achievements to continue to pursue higher level of
education in China so that they may become distinguished
personnel. The China Scholarship Council (hereinafter
referred to as the CSC) is entrusted by the State Education
Commission of China to take charge of the applications for
and management of this scholarship. The CSC welcomes
outstanding young students to continue to study in China.
1. The duration and details of the
Scholarship
The duration of the "Distinguished
Foreign Students Scholarship" is the same as the
duration set for the applicants' schooling. The winner can
automatically enjoy the scholarship for the first year. To
continue to enjoy the scholarship for the following years,
the winner of the scholarship must go under the procedures
of annual review of foreign students' scholarship status.
The scholarship winner will enjoy the
amount of living allowance same as the amount allocated to
Chinese government scholarship students (at present, the
standard is: RMB 650 yuan per month for Master's degree
candidates, and RMB 750 yuan for Doctor degree candidates).
The scholarship winner shall bear their
own expenses for international trip.

Eligibility
Applicants must have finished
their bachelor or master program study in China with the
average score above 85, and with excellent performance in
conduct.
Applicants must have been
approved to pursue higher degree program in Chinese
universities admitting Chinese government scholarships
students (please refer to the "Directory of the Chinese
Universities and Colleges Admitting Students on
Scholarships").
Applicants are
recommended by the institutions at which they are studying.
Applicants fail to obtain scholarship
from other sources.
3. Application
procedures
Qualified candidates can apply
to the Secretariat of the CSC for the Application Form for
Distinguished Foreign Students Scholarship through their
institution by July the 15th. It must be attached with the
recommendation letters and the photocopy of the Admission
Notice for higher level study. Qualified candidates who want
to study at the institutions other than their former
institution must be attached with the recommendation letters
and photocopy of the Admission Notice of the institution
which accepts them.
Applicants shall
send to the Secretariat of the CSC the completed Application
Form (one original and one photocopy) by Aug. 15th, and must
be attached with other required materials.
4. The Approval of the Scholarship
The CSC will notify the accepting institution the
decision of approval 10 days after receipt of the
Application materials and send the Instrument of
Ratification of the Distinguished Foreign Students
Scholarship to the applicant through the institution.
If the scholarship winner needs to
transfer, he/she shall bear the expense of the
trip.
